In October 1989, Frank Lehmann is awaiting his 30th birthday as his friends start calling him "Herr Lehmann" ("Mr. Lehmann"). He makes a living as a bartender in the SO36 in Kreuzberg, Berlin and disregards everything beyond SO36. He maintains a loose affair with cook Katrin. When his parents show up for a visit, he fails to impress while on the other side of the city, political change arises.
At the 2004 German Film Awards, Detlev Buck was awarded Best Supporting Actor and Sven Regener Best Script.
At the 2003 Bavarian Film Awards, Christian Ulmen was awarded Best Actor.
